24/7 phone farms fail in warm rooms when power and cooling are treated as an afterthought. Plan watts, airflow, and rack layout before stacking chassis.
Power planning
- Reference load ≈ 100W per integrated 20-board unit (industry typical — confirm with your supplier)
- Input 110–220V; leave headroom when running multiple units on one circuit
- Prefer central backplane PSUs over USB-hub power chains
Cooling
- Active fans + metal chassis airflow paths are mandatory
- Run 24h stress tests before full rollout; watch for thermal throttling
- Room ventilation beats “more fans in software”
Rack layout
- Leave cable service gaps; label USB/LAN per row
- Keep control PC on wired gigabit — WiFi only for small pilots
- Separate noisy power bricks from airflow intakes when possible

USB/LAN
